Day 112 of ongoing protests in Tirana

TIRANA, September 19 /ATA/ – Marking its 112th consecutive day, the movement against the planned Zvërnec development saw citizens taking to the streets of Tirana once again.

The protesters gathered at Skanderbeg square and further on marched toward the Prime Minister’s Office along “Martyrs of Nation” boulevard, where they delivered speeches and reiterated their demands.

At today’s rally, protesters held placards and chanted slogans against the government, declaring that the protests would continue in the coming days.

The protest, which began on May 31 in opposition to the investment project in Zvërnec area, has expanded over the follow-up weeks to include political and institutional demands. Among the demands voiced by the protesters were the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and changes to the legal framework regarding protected areas and strategic investments. /e.xh/a.f/p.s./
