TIRANA, September 9 /ATA/ The Tirana citizens’ protest reached its 102nd day this Wednesday, continuing the ongoing rally against the proposed Zvërnec tourism development.
The protesters initially gathered at “Skanderbeg” square, from where they held the daily march towards “Martyrs of Nation” boulevard, stopping in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.
During the rally in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, the protesters continued with their calls and gave speeches, expressing their political positions and demands.
The main demand of the protesters continues to be the resignation of the current government.
Activist Mirjan Aliaj warned during his speech that on Saturday, September 12, representatives from the diaspora will also join the protest.
“Don’t forget that on Saturday, September 12, the diaspora announced a massive arrival on this boulevard,” he said.
Meanwhile, some of the protesters this evening also blocked traffic on one side of the Ring Road.
Dubbed the “Flamingo Revolution,” the protest began on May 31 as a reaction against the environmental impact of the tourist project in Zvërnec.
Participants are now demanding political and institutional changes and expressing their concerns about corruption, job opportunities and the departure of young people from the country. /m.q/r.e/p.s./
