Health Minister Evis Sala resigns to take up international roles

TIRANA, Sept 2 /ATA/ – The Minister of Health and Social Welfare Evis Sala resigned on Wednesday, saying she had accepted several important international positions related to her areas of expertise in oncology, artificial intelligence and innovation.

“Today was my last cabinet meeting as I have accepted several important international engagements in my field of expertise: oncology, artificial intelligence and innovation,” Sala said.

Sala took over as Health Minister a year ago, describing the role as a major responsibility in a sector facing significant challenges.

She thanked Prime Minister Edi Rama for his trust and support, as well as doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals and social welfare workers for their work to improve the system.

Sala also thanked members of the public who had contacted her with suggestions or requests for improvements, saying important progress had been made in healthcare over the past year.

“My commitment to Albania is not tied to a position. It is part of who I am and will continue through my knowledge, experience and international professional network,” she said.

“Positions have a beginning and an end. But responsibility and one’s connection to one’s country have no borders,” Sala added.
