TIRANA, Aug 27 /ATA/ “The Mountain Package is beginning to deliver its first tangible results, and this is only the beginning,” declared Minister of State for Local Government, Ervin Demo, in a video message addressed to citizens and compatriots in the diaspora.
Minister Demo said the Mountain Package is already being embraced by citizens who are channelling their attachment to their homeland into local and family economic opportunities, adding that the first fruits of success are now visible.
Demo said municipalities see the Mountain Package as a tool for rural economic growth and a means to address citizens’ needs while fostering local economies — something they have never had before.
Minister Demo said 52 municipalities have designated more than 460 priority zones under the Mountain Package, with around 1,900 submitted applications on the government platform. He added that about 200 have already been approved by municipal councils, with the first development permits issued and initial success stories emerging.”
Demo said the process is advancing from initial interest to applications and now to real investment on the ground. He added that the Mountain Package provides municipalities with a new tool to spur rural economic growth and respond to citizens’ needs.
He stressed that the Mountain Package does not infringe on private property, but instead helps citizens seeking to invest in ancestral land or plots they have held for over a decade.
Demo said the Mountain Package covers state property and is implemented through a thorough verification process, including 45 days of public disclosure and safeguards to ensure all documented ownership claims are resolved before procedures move forward.
The goal is clear: to resolve long‑standing problems and turn them into new opportunities for investment, employment and local development,” the minister declared, emphasizing that the first results already show this is becoming a reality.
