Kosovo charges analyst with spying for Serbia, blackmailing

PRISHTINA, Aug. 25 /ATA/ – Kosovo’s Special Prosecution Office has charged political analyst Fatmir Sheholli with espionage and blackmail, alleging he collaborated with Serbia’s Security Intelligence Agency (BIA) and separately blackmailed a person for more than 13,000 euros.

According to the indictment, Sheholli was allegedly recruited by the BIA and collected information on Kosovo’s political developments, security situation and state institutions, which he then passed to Serbian intelligence officials via phone messages.

Prosecutors also allege that between 2022 and December 2025 he threatened to publish damaging videos and information about a person unless the individual gave him money.

The indictment has been submitted to the Basic Court in Prishtina. Sheholli, who was arrested in October 2025 on suspicion of espionage, remains in custody.

His case is among several espionage investigations in Kosovo involving alleged cooperation with Serbia.
