Aromatic and Medicinal Herbs: A Growing Potential for Albanian Agriculture

TIRANA, Aug 21 /ATA/ The cultivation of aromatic and medicinal herbs is becoming an increasingly important sector of Albanian agriculture, providing farmers with a valuable source of income while contributing to the country’s exports.

Prime Minister Edi Rama today shared images from the fields of Devoll, where farmers have increasingly shifted toward the cultivation of medicinal plants in recent years.

The cultivation of aromatic and medicinal herbs is considered important for the development of Albania’s agricultural sector and economy.

According to state authorities, the sector is directing Albanian exports toward high-end international markets, while creating a sustainable source of income and employment for hundreds of farmers, both women and men, involved in the planting, collection, and processing stages.

Beyond their economic impact, fields planted with medicinal herbs are becoming new attractions for tourists, helping to promote rural tourism and strengthen its connection with sustainable agriculture.
