TIRANA, Aug. 19 /ATA/ – Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari said on Wednesday that authorities would respond firmly to those who violate the law or attack police officers, stressing the need to balance human rights with public order.
“The balance between human rights and the rule of law applies to all citizens and protects society,” Lamallari said in a social media post.
“Those who defy the law and attack its enforcers deserve the strongest response from the State Police,” he added.
Lamallari’s comments came after several people assaulted the deputy police commissioner and head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at the Saranda police station, at a nightclub in the southern Albania city.
Six people, including the venue’s manager, were arrested over the incident, while another person was declared wanted.
