Citizens continue protests for 67th consecutive day in Tirana

TIRANA, Aug. 5 /ATA/ – Citizens and activists gathered in Albania’s capital on Wednesday for the 67th consecutive protest against a planned tourism development project in the coastal area of Zvërnec, southern Albania, while also calling for government changes and broader political reforms.

The protesters assembled at main Skanderbeg Square before marching towards the Prime Minister’s Office along “Martyrs of the Nation” Boulevard.

In addition to opposing the Zvërnec investment project, demonstrators raised a series of political demands, including calls for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and changes to the country’s political system.

Their demands also include amendments to the electoral law, the repeal of legislation on strategic investors, the so-called “Mountain Package”, as well as changes related to protected areas and cultural heritage protection.
