TIRANA, Aug 1 /ATA/ Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Blendi Gonxhja said on Saturday that, following a government decision, construction work and related activities in tourist areas have been temporarily suspended.
“The measure aims to ensure the smooth running of the tourism season, protect tourist destinations, and provide a quieter, higher-quality environment for both residents and visitors,” he said.
Minister Gonxhja called on all entities engaged in construction activities to comply with the requirements of the legislation in force and cooperate with the relevant authorities to help ensure a peaceful, safe and high-standard tourism season.
According to the government decision, the suspension takes effect upon the entry into force of the decision and will remain in force until Sept. 15, 2026.
During this period, operations at quarries, extraction, processing and aggregate production sites, as well as related activities, will also be suspended.
The suspension also covers construction works from the site excavation and foundation-laying stages through to the completion of the structural frame, as well as any activities that generate noise, dust or other adverse environmental impacts.
Exempt from the suspension are interior finishing works and minor construction activities carried out after the completion of a building’s structural framework, provided they have the required permits and do not generate excessive noise, dust or other adverse environmental impacts.
