Overnight storm causes slight damage across Albanian Riviera

TIRANA, July 22/ATA/ Overnight local storms struck the country, bringing down trees and causing minor damage. As meteorologists predicted, coastal areas—including Saranda, Himara, and Vlora—experienced the heaviest impacts overnight.

Following a violent overnight storm in Saranda, several people sustained injuries, and three were admitted to the hospital. According to local reports, the victims were struck by flying glass from vehicles crushed by a falling pine tree outside the stadium.

One of them was struck by a falling tree branch while riding a motorcycle.

A sudden and powerful storm swept through Vlora on Tuesday evening, forcing locals and vacationers to flee the coastline due to falling debris and uprooted trees. Along the Lungomare, businesses were forced to hastily secure their umbrellas and outdoor furniture.

Meanwhile, a cold front of rain, lightning, and moderate winds officially brought an end to the sweltering heat in the Kukës region.
