QSUT says three linear accelerators at Oncology Service are fully operational

TIRANA, July 8 /ATA/ The “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center informs the public that all three linear accelerator machines at the Radiotherapy Unit of the Oncology Service are fully operational, and patients continue to receive treatment according to their scheduled treatment plans.

In a social media statement, the “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center said that even in rare cases of technical issues, treatment continues uninterrupted, with patients being rescheduled and treated using the two other functioning linear accelerators to ensure continuity of therapy.

“Publishing inaccurate information undermines the trust of patients and their families, creates unnecessary confusion and disrupts the work of medical staff, who are committed every day to providing quality care to patients,” the QSUT said in its post.

The Oncology Hospital has three linear accelerators used to provide radiotherapy treatment for most solid tumors requiring this type of therapy, using advanced precision techniques widely applied in developed countries, including 3DCRT, IMRT, IGRT and VMAT.

The Oncology Hospital’s third linear accelerator has been in operation at the Radiotherapy Unit since December 2025.
