Netherlands backs closure of three EU negotiation chapters for Albania

TIRANA, July 7 /ATA/- The Dutch government has confirmed its support for the closure of three European Union accession chapters for Albania, in a move seen as another milestone in the country’s path toward EU membership, the Media and Information Agency (MIA) said on Tuesday.

According to MIA, the Netherlands has endorsed the closing of Chapter 25 on Science and Research, Chapter 26 on Education and Culture, and Chapter 30 on External Relations.

The Agency said the Dutch government’s official assessment concluded that Albania has fulfilled the benchmarks required for the three chapters, paving the way for their formal closure within the accession process.

MIA added that unanimous support is increasingly taking shape within the Council of the European Union, where member states are consolidating their backing for this latest step in Albania’s European integration journey.

The endorsement is expected to further strengthen Albania’s momentum in accession talks as the country continues implementing reforms and aligning its legislation with EU standards.
