TIRANA, July 6 /ATA/ — Prime Minister Edi Rama, presenting the national programme to prepare businesses for European Union integration, singled out the leather‑processing enterprise led by Etleva Laro, describing it as “an example of vision and the ability to transform and adapt.”
Rama said companies from the former subcontracting (“fason”) system face two choices. One, he warned, is inertia and dependence on government relief — “from state injections to demands for financial support to withstand the euro’s exchange rate,” he said during the launch of the national programme to prepare businesses for EU integration.
Rama said subcontracting companies face a free choice, but warned that dependence on government relief runs counter to the “irreversible and unstoppable process” of transforming the economy to meet the challenges of EU single market integration. He contrasted this with firms such as the leather‑processing enterprise led by Etleva Laro, which he praised for seeking to innovate, transform and adapt rather than shield themselves from current constraints.
Prime Minister praised the leather‑processing enterprise led by Etleva Laro and other companies that have chosen innovation over reliance on state aid, saying they operate “on another level” and prove that courage pays off when coupled with vision and determination. “The future cannot be stopped — it comes — and the past does not return, it has gone,” Rama said, stressing that such firms embody Albania’s irreversible shift toward adapting to the challenges of EU single market integration.
