TIRANA, July 6 /ATA/ A 52‑year‑old patient suffering from long‑standing, uncontrolled arterial hypertension has been successfully treated at the Regional Hospital of Shkodër, following the identification of critical stenosis in the left renal artery.
The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare reported today that “renal artery stenosis is among the principal causes of renovascular hypertension and necessitates specialized diagnostic procedures, as well as appropriate interventions to restore normal blood flow.”
According to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the patient underwent an advanced endovascular angioplasty procedure, during which a drug‑eluting stent was placed.
The intervention successfully restored blood flow to the renal artery, thereby creating conditions for improved control of arterial hypertension and enhancement of the patient’s quality of life.
The intervention was carried out through the collaboration of the hemodynamics service and vascular surgery at the Regional Hospital of Shkodër, demonstrating the modern capacities and high professional standards of the medical staff.
The operating team included physicians Gledis Zaimi, Besmir Grizhja, and Aurel Demiraj, as well as nurses Afrim Bashi and Ermal Dibra.
This intervention stands as further evidence of the dedication of the medical staff at the Regional Hospital of Shkodër to providing specialized and high‑quality services for patients.
