TIRANA, July 5 /ATA/ -Anti-government protesters gathered in central Tirana on Sunday for a 36th consecutive day of demonstrations, renewing calls for Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government to resign.
Demonstrators assembled in Skanderbeg Square before marching along Martyrs of the Nation Boulevard toward the Prime Minister’s office.
One of the protest organisers, Arben Kola, urged participants to remain peaceful and “not fall victim to propaganda.”
He said the movement would remain non-violent despite what he described as attempts by “oligarchs and the government” to provoke unrest.
Protest organisers reiterated their demands, including the resignation of Rama and his cabinet, the formation of a transitional technocratic government for at least 12 months, constitutional amendments to be approved by referendum, changes to the electoral code and a two-term limit for the office of Prime Minister.
They also called for the repeal of recent amendments to Albania’s protected areas and cultural heritage laws, as well as the revocation of the government’s “Mountain Package” initiative and the strategic investor status framework.
