TIRANA, July 4 /ATA/Under the coordination of the National Civil Protection Agency and the Ministry of Defence, operations to extinguish a wildfire in Shëngjin are continuing in support of the Municipality of Lezhë.
The Ministry of Defence said on Saturday that efforts to contain the flames continued throughout the night, with the deployment of seven fire engines from the fire services of Lezhë, Vau i Dejës, Shkodër, Mirditë, and the Port of Shëngjin.
The operation also involves personnel and water tankers from the Armed Forces, staff from the Forestry Service, Public Services of the Municipality of Lezhë, and the Civil Emergency units of the Municipality of Lezhë.
The operation is also being backed up by aerial intervention from an Armed Forces helicopter. Thanks to the coordination of all structures, the intensity of the fire has decreased significantly, and efforts continue to fully contain and extinguish the remaining active hotspots.
The suspected arsonist has been identified and is facing legal proceedings before the competent authorities.
The Ministry of Defence and the National Civil Protection Agency are urging citizens to act with maximum responsibility, adhere to fire prevention measures, and promptly report any fire outbreaks or suspicious incidents to the authorities.
