TIRANA, June 30/ATA/ A newly promulgated penal amnesty goes into effect today, granting relief to thousands. President of the Republic Bajram Begaj signed the relevant decree.
Under the new law, 466 individuals—including 11 women and one minor—will be immediately released from prison. Meanwhile, 869 people (including eight women and eight minors) will have their sentences reduced. Additionally, the Probation Service is amnestying 5,077 convicts serving alternative measures.
Notably, the pardon excludes individuals convicted by the Court against Corruption and Organized Crime. /m.q/a.f/p.s./
