TIRANA, June 28 /ATA/ The 29th protest against the planned investment in Zvërnec was held in Tirana on Sunday afternoon.
Protesters initially gathered in Skanderbeg Square before marching to the Prime Minister’s Office. During the demonstration, they chanted slogans against the government, while organizers reiterated their demands.
Another demand concerns constitutional and legal amendments, which, according to the organizers, should be approved through a national referendum. These include changes to the Electoral Code, amendments to the law on political party financing, and limiting the prime minister to no more than two terms in office over a lifetime.
The Coordinating Group also called for the repeal of amendments to the laws on protected areas and cultural heritage, the repeal of the legislative package known as the “Mountain Pact,” and the abolition of the legal framework governing strategic investments.
The organizers also called for the drafting of a new social contract between citizens and the state, which they said should be developed following consultations with experts, intellectuals, and the public.
Earlier, Coordinating Group member Përparim Gjeka published a document that he described as the protest’s political platform, proposing the establishment of new civic institutions aimed at reshaping the country’s political system.
