Xhafzotaj egg facility highlights agro-food modernization push

TIRANA, June 27 /ATA/ – A poultry production facility in Xhafzotaj with a capacity of around 350,000 birds is being presented as a model of modernisation in Albania’s agro-food sector following a visit by Agriculture Minister Andis Salla and Kosovo Agriculture Minister Armend Muja.

The delegation visited the egg production complex operated by AIBA, which consists of five production units and ranks among the country’s most advanced egg-producing facilities.

During the visit, Muja was briefed on EU-standard production practices, applied technology, traceability systems and food safety measures implemented throughout the production chain.

Salla said AIBA is currently the only facility in the country exporting liquid eggs to the European Union, meeting strict European market standards and international food safety requirements.

Officials described the investment as an example of ongoing efforts to modernise Albania’s agro-food industry and expand production capacity, with compliance with EU standards seen as key to improving competitiveness and export potential.

The visit also highlighted the importance of continued support for agricultural and agri-processing investments, which are considered central to economic development and export growth in the sector.
