TIRANA, June 26 /ATA/Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, announced on Friday that the Council of Ministers has approved a decision to index pensions by 2.7%, which will take effect from July 1, 2026.
Speaking to journalists after the government meeting, Minister Ibrahimaj said the decision restores the regular pension indexation scheme.
“We approved today the decision on pension indexation for 2026. It restores the process to its standard adjustment framework,” the minister said.
Ibrahimaj noted that in 2022, amid the energy crisis, pensions were indexed twice, in April and October.
“From this year, starting July 1, 2026, we will index pensions by 2.7%. This indexation covers all old-age pensions, special pensions, as well as maternity benefits,” Ibrahimaj said.
According to Ibrahimaj, around 900,000 citizens will benefit from the measure, with the 2.7% indexation reflected in payments starting from July 1, 2026.
