PM Rama shares message from critic expressing concern over protests

TIRANA, June 22 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama on Monday shared a social media exchange with a young Albanian who, despite describing himself as a political opponent of the premier, expressed concern that ongoing protests could lead to instability.

In a message posted by Rama, Amarildo Kaçaniku said he had never voted for the Prime Minister and remained critical of his government, but argued that the protests appeared to be serving purposes other than the country’s interests.

Kaçaniku, who identified himself as a lawyer, said he hoped the demonstrations would end without causing destabilisation, adding that history had shown that movements presented as a source of salvation or hope could sometimes produce worse outcomes.

Rama said he had personally called the young man after reading the message.

“I called Amarildo to give him the signal he requested at the end of his message,” Rama wrote on social media, sharing a photograph from the conversation.

The Prime Minister did not elaborate further on the content of the call.
