TIRANA, June 19 /ATA/ – Gazment Bardhi, head of the parliamentary group of the main opposition Democratic Party, on Friday condemned police proceedings against protesters, describing them as a politically motivated misuse of law enforcement institutions.
According to Bardhi, the measures are aimed at intimidating citizens and undermining their constitutional right to peaceful protest.
He said the protest, now in its 19th consecutive day, has remained peaceful and in compliance with the law, adding that participants have not exceeded legal limits even in the face of alleged provocations.
Bardhi called on the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office to intervene immediately to stop what he described as arbitrary and politically driven actions by the State Police, warning that the institution’s silence would make it a party to the situation.
