TIRANA, June 15 /ATA/ Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu stated today that Albania ranks among the top-performing economies in the Western Balkans regarding both GDP growth and price stability.
Referring to recently published statistics, Koçiu emphasized that at 2.8% in April 2026, Albania’s inflation rate remained notably lower than the EU average and other countries in the region.
“”Despite the political and media noise, the facts are clear: Albania’s economy has never been stronger. We are more stable and competitive than ever, driven by a 3.4% growth rate and the lowest inflation in the region at 2.8%”, Koçiu said.
According to Eurostat, in April 2026, Albania recorded an inflation rate of 2.8%, well below the European Union average of 3.2% and the lowest in the wider region. By comparison, inflation stood at 3.6% in both Serbia and Montenegro, 5.7% in North Macedonia, 6.8% in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 7.5% in Kosovo.
Koçiu assessed that these indicators reflect the stability of the Albanian economy and the effects of the policies pursued to control inflation and maintain macroeconomic stability.
“Despite attempts to spread misinformation, these positive results prove our vision is driving real progress for citizens. Numbers don’t lie; they clearly show Albania is firmly on the right path toward European Union integration”, she emphasized.
According to the deputy prime minister, maintaining low inflation and steady economic growth is essential for citizen well-being and advancing the country’s European integration. /e.xh/r.e/p.s./
