TIRANA, June 11/ATA/ The Academy of Sciences of Albania, the Argiro Association, and the International Lyre Academy held a joint concert-conference: From the Lyre of Antiquity to Lyrical Theater.
Composer and Academy of Athens researcher Dr. Nikos Xanthoulis captivated the Albanian public with an unforgettable musical bridge between eras. Blending ancient melodies with baroque and modern compositions, he used music and narration to trace the seven-stringed lyre’s journey from antiquity to modern European classical music.
The audience enjoyed rare pieces such as the “Choral”, from “Oreste” by Euripides (408 BC); “Delphic Paean” by Athenaeus (128 BC), as well as the “Epitaph of Seikilos” (2nd–3rd century AD), one of the earliest evidences of written music.
The program also carried pieces by Xanthoulis such as “Rosa Ritrovata”; “Hear my Prayer” and “Honor to Dionysus”.
Welcomed as an intersection of art and science, the event immersed the Albanian audience in a living tradition of our global heritage. /r.e/a.f/p.s./
