Industrial strategy launched to boost higher-value manufacturing and exports

TIRANA, June 8 /ATA/ – The Ministry of Economy and Innovation has launched a public consultation on the National Industry Strategy 2026-2030, aimed at strengthening the industrial sector’s role in the Albanian economy and accelerating the shift toward higher value-added production.

The strategy targets a 30%-35% increase in industrial value added by 2030, driven by expanded manufacturing capacity and technological modernization.

Food processing, which accounts for about 18% of industrial output, is identified as a priority sector, with processed food exports projected to rise by up to 50% through improved standards and closer integration with the European Union market.

The plan also seeks to move the textile and garment industry beyond contract manufacturing toward domestically branded and designed products, while increasing local processing of chromium, nickel and copper to raise the value of exports.

By 2030, Albania aims to double the number of companies exporting regularly to the EU and deepen the integration of domestic firms into European supply chains.

The strategy places a strong emphasis on automation, digitalization and workforce training to improve productivity, address skills shortages and enhance competitiveness.

According to the ministry, the initiative is intended to transform Albania into a more export-oriented and competitive industrial economy aligned with the European market and long-term growth objectives.
