British reality show “TOWIE” picks Drimadhë as filming location for new season

TIRANA, June 6 /ATA/ – British reality television series The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) has chosen the Albanian coastal village of Drimadhë as the filming location for its upcoming season, in a move highlighted by Prime Minister Edi Rama as further evidence of Albania’s growing profile in international tourism and media.

In a social media post on Saturday, Rama said the long-running ITV production had selected Drimadhë for its latest season, describing the decision as a sign of increasing international attention toward Albania.

“One of the United Kingdom’s most-watched television programmes, TOWIE, produced by ITV, has chosen Drimadhë as the location for filming its new season, further reflecting the attention Albania is attracting on the international tourism and media stage,” Rama said.

Rebecca Kenny-Smith, the programme’s director, said Albania had become one of the most talked-about travel destinations in Britain.

“We are now in the 38th season of TOWIE and are always looking for new destinations where we have not filmed before,” Kenny-Smith said. “Albania is currently generating significant interest in the UK. Drimadhë offers a stunning setting between the sea and the mountains, with breathtaking scenery.”

She noted that Albania’s combination of crystal-clear waters, mountain landscapes, sunsets and traditional architecture makes it stand out from more established tourist destinations.

Rama said the decision by the British production team to film in Drimadhë would provide valuable international exposure for Albania, underscoring the country’s growing appeal as both a tourism destination and a location for international media productions.
