TIRANA, June 2/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said today that SPAK’s probe into the Zvërnec property, intended for a new tourist resort, is a positive development.
During a press conference together with President of the European Commission Antonio Costa, the head of government said that a positive aspect of this case is the investigation into the origins of wealth, a long-standing issue of public debate.
On the other hand, the head of government said that to counter recent half-truths, all current property investors operate in full accordance with Albanian legislation and that authorized bodies have officially verified their funding.
Rama underlined that the investors have a strong, established track record. Furthermore, the funds used for this property acquisition have been verified and cleared for complete legality by the Albanian Financial Intelligence Unit (AFIU) in collaboration with international partners.
“Open discussion is always welcome, but the spread of deliberate misinformation by self-appointed spokespersons is unacceptable. These investors acquired the property legally, following every required step under Albanian law”, Rama said further on.
Rama emphasized that investor reputational damage tarnishes Albania’s reputation too.
“I urge our critics to reconsider before pushing half-truths. This isn’t just about investors; this is damaging Albania itself. Our partners are reputable professionals, and one is a high-profile figure often caught in international media crossfires. As Albanians, it is our duty to be fair hosts and prove that our country welcomes serious investors with open arms”, Rama said. /m.q/j.p/p.s./
