Albania joins “EU4IP – Western Balkans” initiative

TIRANA, June 1 /ATA/ Albania has joined in one of the most important initiatives of the European Union to strengthen the intellectual property system in the region, following the official launch of the “EU4IP – Western Balkans” project. This is a new cooperation program between the European Union, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the Western Balkan countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia), as well as the Republic of Moldova.

The initiative aims to support the participating countries in the approximation of their legislation, institutions and practices with European intellectual property standards, creating more favorable conditions for innovation, investment and economic development.

Director General of the General Directorate of Industrial Property Maria Solis Kapedani positively assessed the project as an important opportunity to accelerate the transformation of the Albanian intellectual property system.

“We welcome the EU4IP-WB project as an important step towards strengthening the intellectual property ecosystem in Albania and across the region. A modern and efficient intellectual property protection system is essential for developing innovation, increasing the competitiveness of businesses and bringing the country closer to European standards,” said Kapedani.

For Albania, this initiative is expected to have a direct impact on improving the business climate, protecting investors, promoting innovation and increasing the confidence of companies operating in the market. /j.p/p.s./
