DP unveils program: Revitalizing economy and targeting corruption

TIRANA, May 30/ATA/ The leader of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha presented its comprehensive political program today, signaling that a future government will prioritize economic stabilization, aggressive action against organized crime, and systemic anti-corruption reforms.

During his speech, Berisha stated that his first priority is tackling poverty by establishing a living wage, raising pensions, and boosting salaries. The ultimate goal of the Democratic Party is to ensure Albanians enjoy the highest incomes in the region.

Another focus of the program, according to Berisha, is the youth, for whom he promised more opportunities for education, employment and housing, with the aim of them building their future in Albania.

In the agricultural sector, the leader of the Democratic Party said that the farmers demand significantly higher subsidies, citing their massive economic impact and inadequate state support.

Criticizing the devaluation of the euro and dollar as a symptom of a “narco-economy,” Berisha pledged that the Democratic Party (DP) would maintain Albania’s lowest tax burden. He argued that widespread drug trafficking and money laundering are actively destabilizing the nation’s financial landscape.

He pledged “zero tolerance” for organized crime, vowing to prosecute both criminal networks and the officials protecting them. The DP leader also made tackling corruption a cornerstone of his platform, promising to enforce conflict-of-interest laws and increase institutional transparency. /m.q/j.p/p.s./
