TIRANA, May 23/ATA/ Democratic Party is holding elections today for the new chairman who will lead this political force in opposition over the next four years.
The current DP Chairman Sali Berisha is the only candidate in the race. And he appreciated the process as exemplary.
“This is the most democratic referendum, the voters can express their support for the chairman or show they are against him”, Berisha said to reporters.
He took the opportunity to call on all other Democrats who have not voted yet to fulfill this important statutory obligation.
Asked about the claims of former Democrat MP Ervin Salianji of having his name on the ballot paper, Berisha responded by emphasizing that, “A representative of the criminal world cannot in any way taint this most democratic process in Albania.” /m.m//a.g/p.s./
