TIRANA, May 19 /ATA/ – Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari met senior FRONTEX representatives on Tuesday to discuss strengthening cooperation on border security, migration management and the fight against cross-border crime.
The meeting was attended by FRONTEX officials Eva Capogna, Holger Farnung, Teuta Krasniqi and Ksenia Hawryszkow.
Lamallari said Albania and the European Union border agency were working to deepen cooperation through joint operations and modernisation of migration management systems in line with EU standards.
“Albania was the first non-EU country to host a joint FRONTEX operation, demonstrating the trust placed in our country and our role as a security factor in the region,” Lamallari said.
He added that the participation of Albanian officers in European missions and ongoing reforms in border and migration management are helping strengthen the country’s operational capacities as part of its EU integration path.
