TIRANA, May 7/ATA/ Addressing the Assembly, DP parliamentary leader Gazment Bardhi emphasized that the 2025 European Parliament report highlights critical challenges that demand immediate legislative attention.
“The 2025 EP report on Albania paints a challenging picture of our EU path, largely due to the Assembly’s refusal to lift immunity for former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku. By voting with 83 cards against, the majority has obstructed justice, directly contradicting the European Parliament’s stance that immunity must not be used to shield corruption”, said Bardhi.
According to Bardhi, encouragingly, the report confirms strong, cross-party dedication to the EU path.
“The Assembly should use today’s session to turn the new EP report into a concrete working plan. Instead, the ruling majority is ignoring the report’s call for unity by continuing to exclude the opposition from the integration process”, he continued.
The National Council for European Integration will meet tomorrow, with members already having received the agenda. While the opposition has a quorum only in this council, today’s agenda is completely dominated by the ruling majority—starting and ending with Taulant Balla and his SP parliamentary group, said Bardhi. /e.i/j.p/p.s./
