Saranda port sees record passenger numbers in first four months

TIRANA, May 4 /ATA/ – The port of Saranda in southern Albania recorded a sharp rise in passenger traffic in the first four months of the year, driven by growing tourism and improved connections with Greece.

Port director Admir Malaj said 52,770 passengers passed through the port between January and April, up 72% compared with the same period in 2025.

In April alone, the port handled 30,567 passengers, an increase of 10,510 from a year earlier, he said.

Malaj attributed the growth to upgrades in port infrastructure and increased ferry links with Corfu.

To manage the busy tourist season, the port has strengthened security and coordination with border police, the harbour master and customs authorities. Ferry operators have also increased the frequency of crossings between Corfu and Saranda.

Saranda, known for its beaches and nearby archaeological and natural attractions, continues to draw growing numbers of domestic and foreign tourists.
