TIRANA, April 30 /ATA/ At its most recent meeting, the Transparency Board approved new price caps for the sale of petroleum by-products, which will take effect today at 1:00 PM.
Under the decision, the retail price of SSH EN 590 standard diesel shall not exceed 208 lek per liter, while the wholesale price is capped at 196 lek per liter, reflecting an increase of 5 lek per liter.
Meanwhile, the retail price cap for gasoline has been set at 185 lek per liter, with the wholesale price capped at 173 lek per liter, reflecting fluctuations in international markets and exchange rate movements.
Authorities have stated that the new prices will remain in effect until the next board meeting, at which they will be reviewed in light of prevailing market conditions.
Adherence to the decision is mandatory for all retail and wholesale trading operators.
Failure to comply with the established prices may result in the suspension of operations for the entities in violation.
In an official statement, the Board emphasized that, pursuant to Normative Act No. 1, dated April 3, 2026, the excise duty rate remains at 100%, as the established prices are below the specified thresholds of 220 lek per liter for diesel and 200 lek per liter for gasoline.
The responsible institutions, including the relevant ministries, continue their efforts to protect consumers and ensure fair competition in the fuel market.
