Olive processing facility hailed as growth driver for central region of Elbasan

TIRANA, April 29 /ATA/ – Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu and Agriculture Minister Andis Salla visited an olive collection and processing facility in Dushk on Wednesday, describing the business as an example of Albania’s agricultural export potential and a driver of growth for the central Albanian region of Elbasan.

The facility, operated by local entrepreneur Sami Debrova under the brand Sagelo Olive, exports to international markets and has been cited by officials as a model for value-added agro-processing.

“It is inspiring to see how, through hard work and government support, this family business has transformed into an enterprise competing on quality in international markets,” Koçiu said, adding that the future of Albanian agriculture lies in higher standards and quality.

Established in 2008, the business collects, packages and preserves olives and pickled products using traditional methods, with annual processing capacity of around 4,000 quintals. It employs about nine people and works closely with local farmers, helping strengthen the regional value chain.

Salla said the company exports to markets including the United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Germany, calling it a successful model for promoting Albanian-made products abroad.
