TIRANA, April 15 /ATA/ – Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu visited those injured in a fire that swept through a residential building in Tirana a day ago, with doctors reporting all the affected to be in stable condition.
Speaking during a visit to the Mother Teresa University Hospital Center on Wednesday, Koçiu said firefighters hurt while tackling the blaze were in good health and expected to be discharged later in the day.
She praised their “brave and professional intervention”, saying it helped save lives and avert more serious consequences for residents of the building.
The fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon in the “Arlis” residential complex on Dibra Street, affecting a significant part of the structure. Emergency crews, including firefighters, medical teams and police, were deployed shortly after the alarm was raised.
Authorities said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, with evidence still being gathered.
The blaze was brought under control later in the evening. In total, 11 people were injured. Six were hospitalised – four in toxicology, one in emergency care and one in the burns unit – while five others sought treatment for burn injuries, with one admitted and the rest discharged after receiving care.
