TIRANA, April 15  /ATA/ The State Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi, and the Director of the School of Magistrates, Arben Rakipi, together with representatives of the Ministry of Justice, held a working meeting today to discuss the provisions of the draft Criminal Code.

According to Celibashi, the focus of the meeting was on criminal offences in the electoral field.

“The discussions focused on: reviewing existing provisions related to electoral crimes; proposals for more effective measures against the electoral fraud; and harmonising the Criminal Code with international standards and best practices,” Celibashi said.

According to him, this consultation process aims, through institutional cooperation and lessons learned from electoral processes, to improve existing provisions or introduce new provisions in the Criminal Code, in order to ensure a clear, fair, and enforceable legal framework.

“The consultation process will contribute to strengthening the integrity of elections and ensuring the protection of citizens’ democratic rights,” Celibashi underlined.
