PM Rama shares family photograph featuring Orthodox Easter red eggs

TIRANA, April 11  /ATA/ Orthodox Christians all over the country are preparing to mark Easter, one of the most important dates in the religious calendar. At the heart of the celebration lies a simple yet powerful symbol: the red egg, representing renewal and life.

On the eve of this major feast in the Orthodox religious calendar, Prime Minister Edi Rama shared a photograph from an Orthodox family, in which the traditional red Easter eggs symbolize the significance of the day.

During the Easter celebration, Christians commemorate the Resurrection of Christ — a moment that symbolizes the rebirth of hope, the strengthening of faith in God for all believers, the passage from the temporal to the eternal, and the liberation of humanity from sin.

Last night, Orthodox Christians across Albania marked Good Friday, one of the most solemn moments of Holy Week. Worshippers gathered to take part in the procession of the Holy Epitaph, a ritual that carries deep spiritual meaning for the faithful.

Orthodox worshippers lit candles and joined together in prayer, marking with devotion the solemn remembrance of Christ’s Passion. The flickering lights and collective voices created an atmosphere of reverence, as the faithful reflected on sacrifice, redemption, and the hope of resurrection.

This occasion represents one of the principal spiritual milestones in the preparation of Orthodox believers for the Easter feast. Easter, which commemorates the Resurrection of Christ, stands as a defining moment within the liturgical calendar, embodying both the renewal of faith and the culmination of Holy Week observances.
