U.S. Embassy says working closely with Albanian authorities to assess situation

TIRANA, April 2 /ATA/ – The U.S. Embassy in Tirana said Thursday it is working closely with Albanian authorities to assess the situation and mitigate potential security risks, following a message issued a day earlier warning that Iran-linked groups could target the country.

Responding to media inquiries, the Embassy said coordination with local institutions is ongoing.

“The Trump administration has no higher priority than the safety and security of Americans. We are working closely with Albanian authorities to assess the situation and mitigate security risks,” the Embassy said in a statement.

The U.S. Embassy added that it “values its close cooperation on security issues with the Government of Albania, which has demonstrated a continued commitment to ensuring the safety of U.S. citizens and all residents of Albania.”

On Wednesday, the Embassy warned that groups linked to Iran may target U.S.-affiliated entities or elements of the Iranian opposition in Albania.

“Groups associated with Iran may seek to target entities associated with the U.S. or Iranian opposition elements in Albania,” the U.S. Embassy said in a statement a day ago.
