Health Minister: Range of laboratory tests expanded at Berat regional hospital

TIRANA, April 1 /ATA/ – Berat Regional Hospital is undergoing upgrades to its operating block to improve conditions and provide higher-quality services, while staff continue to maintain uninterrupted medical care and laboratory testing, handling patient flows professionally.

During an inspection of the hospital on Wednesday, Health and Social Welfare Minister Evis Sala visited the laboratory, praising the uninterrupted provision of diagnostic services. She noted that rising cases, particularly of chronic diseases, have increased demand for tests, often exceeding planned capacity. Laboratory examinations are provided daily, with priority given to emergency cases.

Sala said efforts are underway to expand the range of laboratory tests in collaboration with specialists and experts, based on collected data. The expansion will include molecular markers, which play a key role in the development and application of innovative therapies.

Investments in infrastructure and service enhancements reflect Albania’s commitment to a European-standard healthcare system, emphasizing quality, access, and equal treatment for all citizens in line with EU standards.
