TIRANA, March 28 /ATA/ Young people who have completed their Bachelor studies can take up one‑year work placements in public institutions under formal contracts.
Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Andis Salla on Saturday shared the example of Ergi Veliu, a young graduate who, after completing his studies in the United States, chose to return to Albania to contribute to his home country.
Salla said that after completing a three‑month internship at the National Food Authority (AKU), Ergi is now employed on a one‑year contract as a food safety specialist — another example of young people bringing value to the country.
The young graduate stated that, having completed his Bachelor studies in dietary nutrition in the United States, he made the decision to return to Albania. ‘I accepted a three‑month internship with the National Food Authority (AKU), where I got closely acquainted with the institution’s operations in the field of food safety. Upon completion of the internship, I was offered a one‑year contract, an experience that will significantly contribute to my professional development,’ he said.
The purpose of the National Internship Program is to build a qualifying experience that fosters the development of professional, academic, and personal competencies. The program enables participants to develop an understanding of institutions of state administration as well as other public or private entities.
Institutions are responsible for selecting interns who will be employed under one‑year contracts, based on the assessment of their performance during the internship and the specific requirements of each institution.
