SHKODRA, March 27/ATA/ – The Marubi National Museum of Photography has presented Zofia Rydet’s “Sociological Record”, a defining 20th-century photographic survey of Polish domestic life.
The exhibition, curated by Clare Grafik and Karol Hordziej, presents around 100 photographic prints, as well as archival materials and publications from the “Zofia Rydet” Foundation.
Rydet’s 1960s photographs of Albanian cities—including Durrës, Tirana, Gjirokastra, Saranda, and Kruja—offer a fascinating contrast to her Polish portfolio. These images hold unique significance for Albanians, capturing free, spontaneous street life in direct opposition to her usual curated, structured interiors.
These photographs stand out for their raw authenticity, free from ideological filters. In stark contrast to the staged propaganda common in Albania at the time, Rydet captures candid, liberated moments: children gazing at the camera with a mix of curiosity.
The exhibition has the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports. /p.s./
