Ministry of Environment presents implementation plan for Industrial Emissions Directive

TIRANA, March 10 /ATA/ The Ministry of Environment held today a consultative meeting on the Industrial Emissions Directive, where it presented the Specific Implementation Plan for the industrial sector and international partners, as part of the reforms of Chapter 27 in the European accession process.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that this process aims to guide Albania toward cleaner production and raising environmental standards for industry, through the use of Best Available Techniques (BAT), in line with the European Union acquis.

Minister of Environment, Sofjan Jaupaj, underscored the importance of engaging in consultations with stakeholders. He emphasized that all legislative improvements in the fields of environment and climate change must go through an extensive communication process, thereby ensuring the active involvement of industry representatives and international partners in the drafting of environmental policies.

Minister Jaupaj also expressed appreciation for the support of the Swedish government, which, through technical assistance, is contributing to the advancement of environmental reforms and the strengthening of capacities for the implementation of European standards in Albania.

“With the involvement of all stakeholders and the support of our partners, we are confident that Albania will further advance environmental reforms and progress along its European path,” stated the Minister.

The meeting was held within the framework of commitments to harmonize Albanian legislation with European standards and to strengthen policies for environmental protection and for addressing the challenges related to climate change.
