FM Hoxha to visit Brussels, meet Kallas and Kos on Albania’s EU accession progress

TIRANA, March 10 /ATA/ – The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, will travel to Brussels on March 10-11 for his first official visit as the country’s top diplomat to hold talks with senior European Union officials on the progress of Albania’s accession negotiations.

During the visit, Foreign Minister Hoxha is scheduled to meet Kaja Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission and the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, as well as Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos.

Discussions will focus on deepening ties between Albania and the European Union and on maintaining momentum in accession talks, with Tirana aiming to conclude negotiations by 2027.

At the invitation of the European External Action Service (EEAS), Hoxha will also speak at a panel titled “Strengthening the EU through Enlargement”, part of the Ambassadors’ Conference in Brussels.

The discussion is expected to examine how the EU’s enlargement policy can bolster the bloc’s security and stability, as well as its role as a long-term investment in the future of the Western Balkans.

Hoxha will also attend a ceremony organised by Albania’s embassy in Belgium to honour Albanian-language teachers in Belgium and Luxembourg.
