TIRANA, March 3 /ATA/ – The Economy and Innovation Minister, Delina Ibrahimaj, signed a joint declaration of intent with Berlin Mayor and State Senator for Economy, Energy and Enterprise, Franziska Giffey, during an official visit to the German capital on Tuesday.
The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration between Albania’s Ministry of Economy and Innovation and the Berlin Senate, focusing on strengthening innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems, supporting startups, and enhancing business competitiveness.
“Signing this declaration represents an important step in deepening economic relations between Albania and Berlin, and accelerating Albania’s integration into the European innovation and research space,” Ibrahimaj said.
The partnership will rest on three pillars: building capacities for innovation and entrepreneurship through the exchange of best practices on startup policies, financial instruments, innovation centres, and support for youth and women entrepreneurs; connecting businesses and ecosystems via B2B and B2I visits, participation in international fairs, and collaboration bridges between Albanian startups and Berlin’s ecosystem; and developing joint projects and EU funding applications, including under Horizon Europe, the Digital Europe Programme, and instruments of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
The cooperation is part of the Ecosystem Connectors Berlin-Sarajevo-Tirana initiative and aims to position Tirana as a growing regional hub for innovation and technology.
