Berisha says Albania’s path to EU cannot be blocked

TIRANA, March 3 /ATA/ The DP chairman, Sali Berisha, spoke in Durrës this afternoon, warning the government that it cannot obstruct Albania’s integration process. He argued that such obstruction is rooted in the efforts to protect corruption and legal violations.

Berisha insisted that Albania’s path to Europe cannot be blocked, warning that those who attempt to close the country’s doors to EU integration will face consequences. He argued that Albania is imperilled by the current government’s policies and called on citizens to react.

Berisha asserted that the current leadership seeks to transform Albania into its personal fiefdom. He pledged that such ambitions would be met with the utmost courage and determination, declaring: ‘We shall respond with the strongest resolve, with the fiercest indignation, and we shall bring this down.’ He further emphasized that the democracy and sovereignty of the Albanian people cannot be obstructed by individuals or external dictators. ‘This is the season of democracy, of democrats, not of dictators,’ Berisha affirmed.

Berisha accused the government of misusing public assets to enrich what he called the “state mafia” and of failing to protect citizens from natural disasters. He highlighted the Port of Durrës as Albania’s most valuable public asset, alleging that the government intends to exploit it for personal gain by building a “Dubai of 1001 Nights.” Berisha concluded that the only solution is to confront the government directly and remove it from power.

Berisha accused the government of mismanaging natural emergencies and misusing public funds. He argued that corruption and criminal ties are fostering a new ruling class that exploits Albanian taxpayers and public resources, eroding citizens’ trust and harming their well-being.

Berisha accused the government of failing to uphold constitutional accountability, citing the flooding of 600 families and the lack of accountability for stolen pumps, blocked canals, and illegal construction. He also criticized the poor quality of recent infrastructure, noting that roads have collapsed one after another without anyone being held to account.

Berisha accused the government of failing to take responsibility for environmental damage and tunnel collapse, while ignoring citizens and misusing public funds. He urged Albanians to confront the authorities directly, hold those responsible for corruption accountable, and mobilize to ensure justice and proper management of public resources.
