TIRANA, March 2 /ATA/ The Director of the Albanian Road Authority, Ami Kozeli, announced today that the Librazhd–Pogradec road segment, following intensive works carried out in the area known as “Arrat e Gurrës,” will reopen to traffic tomorrow at noon.
According to Mr. Kozeli, the road segment will be reopened tomorrow at 12:00, following the relentless and intensive efforts of the on-site teams, which have been operating with heavy machinery and reinforced workforce capacity to stabilize the displaced landmass and redirect the flow of the Shkumbin River, with the objective of preventing further damage.
During this period, the reduction of the displaced earth mass has been carried out, along with the completion of preparatory works to enable the reopening of traffic.
According to the Head of the Albanian Road Authority (ARRSH), the emergency intervention was indispensable, while the construction works for an alternative road over the Shkumbin River and alongside the railway line will require at least 60 days to complete.
The project for the alternative roadway provides for approximately 80,000 cubic meters of embankment filling and 2,800 tons of asphalt paving. The new segment will extend over a total length of 1.1 kilometers.
Kozeli emphasized that the road segment scheduled to reopen tomorrow will be accessible to all categories of vehicles.
“For the past four days, the segment has been maintained under continuous load testing with heavy vehicles and has not exhibited any form of structural failure,” Mr. Kozeli stated.
