TIRANA, Feb 25 /ATA/ The Director of the Albanian Road Authority, Ami Kozeli, and the Director of the Directorate of Strategic Planning and Operations, Indrit Koleci, reported on Wednesday that work is underway to stabilize the landslide that has forced the closure of the Librazhd-Përrenjas axis, specifically in the area called the “Arrat e Gurrës.”
The work has started in line with the approved action plan, with the primary objective of stabilizing the affected road segment and ensuring the road is secure and passable. Technical teams, along with the necessary machinery and personnel, have been deployed on-site to address the aftermath of the landslide and to ensure the rehabilitation of the riverbed.
Kozeli informed that the contractor has commenced the implementation of the technical measures, which include the covering of the riverbed and the demolition of the damaged bridge.
He stated that these interventions are aimed at stabilizing the landslide mass and clearing the road to restore normal traffic circulation.
“The operation has been scaled up, with 7 excavators and 20 trucks deployed, while the Geological Service has sent experts who are working closely with the Albanian Road Authority (ARRSH) to monitor and evaluate the situation,” said Kozeli.
For his part, Koleci emphasized that it is not possible to provide an exact timeline for the completion of the works at this stage, as in-depth field studies are currently being conducted for the stabilization of the landslide mass.
He explained that topographic studies and hydraulic modeling of the riverbed have been completed, and studies are ongoing for the upper part of the affected area.
“The exact timelines cannot be determined yet, as there is a considerable amount of work involved. However, within 3-4 days, a clearer assessment is expected, and we will provide an initial estimate for the completion of the work,” added Koleci.
