TIRANA, Feb 10 /ATA/- Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha called for massive public support for today’s protest in Tirana, describing the event as one of the landmark moments in the country’s history.
At a press conference, Berisha called on citizens to take to Tirana’s streets and boulevards to send out a strong and dignified message against the government and its alleged corruption.
He described today’s protest as a ‘powerful peaceful uprising,’ aimed at sending out a clear message both within Albania and to other European and Western countries.
“We are determined to defend at all costs the shared values of free people in Albania and beyond. Today’s protest follows the failure of the first phase of a ‘coup attempt’ and the immediate initiation of its next phase by Edi Rama. It also comes in the wake of a ‘black card’ issued yesterday and today in Brussels to the man who, for his thefts, is willing to jeopardize a process as vital as Albania’s European integration,” the Democratic Party leader said.
