TIRANA, Feb 2 /ATA/ – Main opposition Democratic Party (DP) held its weekly protest outside the Prime Minister’s office in Tirana on Monday, with the party leader Sali Berisha saying demonstrations would continue until the opposition achieves its political objectives.
Berisha was joined by DP lawmakers, representatives of allied parties and party supporters at the rally.
Addressing the crowd, Berisha said the protests were part of what he described as a broader struggle for civic and national dignity and against what he called harmful government.
He accused the government of mismanagement, corruption and worsening living conditions, saying the opposition would do “everything necessary” to bring about political change.
According to Berisha, the demonstrations aim to restore hope and confidence in Albania, particularly among young people.
“We will continue to take to the streets until victory,” Berisha said, adding that the opposition remained determined to fight for change and a better future for citizens.
Berisha called on citizens to join a nationwide protest planned for Feb. 10, describing it as “the next day of peaceful uprising” against the government.
“Feb. 10 is the next day of our peaceful uprising. Albanians from all parts of the country are invited to the streets and squares of Tirana,” he said.
He placed particular emphasis on youth participation, saying young people had been a decisive force at critical moments in the country’s history.
Berisha reiterated his demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, saying the opposition would continue its political action until its stated goals are met.
